it's easy to feel dwarfed

11.29.2014

It's easy to feel small when you're looking up at something big.

It isn't a bad feeling, per se-- you're certainly aren't powerful, but you aren't powerless either. You're just in the middle, safely sandwiched between the things that tower above and the lowly things that cluster below you.

I definitely felt that way as I stood under this monster of a utility pole. The geometric patterns of barbed metal brought about quite a splendid feeling: I wasn't totally in awe, yet I didn't feel patronized.

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

  1. Wow. This was really deep. I think I know the feeling. We're so small in this giant universe, and even just this earth or country or city. But then there's all the little blades of grass and animals, and we can be pretty superior too.

  3. That was so intense and so true. I never really thought about it that way but I feel like it explains exactly how I feel sometimes.

  4. It's good to realise that it's okay to be smaller than something else - sometimes it's just nice to accept your place, and not try to make out that you're the most important thing in the place! xx Rebecca - UK fashion blog

  5. I'm quite short, so I can relate to this post. I never put it into perspective really, that compared to grass and birds and things, I'm not that small at all. :)
    Lovely post, deary.

  8. LOVE that last quote! It has been so evident in my own life...you may not know the importance of even little moments of your life until it is in the past!
